DevLog: Jan-March 02009
(most recent stuff at the top)
March 02, 02009
Been working on an entry for the Cockpit Compo over at tigsauce.
February 27, 02009
Spent a bunch of time trying to get my tablet pc working under Ubuntu. No luck with sound, touchscreen, or wireless network (at least with security, I can connect to a neighbor's network just fine). Any of those is kind of a deal breaker. Windows wins.

I seem to have shifted back into "play games" mode instead of "make games" mode. I have however set up a neat two-wiimote GlovePie script for playing games with FPS-style controls. Still can't come close to using a mouse for speed and accuracy of aiming, though. I start to wonder if anything can.

Continued thinking about Vector Field Game and writing here: Global versus Local Control
February 10, 02009
Messed with prototyping out a way to turn the vector field thing into a game. Herding particles is working out quite poorly. I probably should have realized that beforehand from trying Raspberry. (I strongly suggest trying it if you haven't. It's available here.)
Makes me realize this is going to be more difficult than I thought!
More thoughts on this here: Global versus Local Control

Messing with CSS today, Mike? You must have something more interesting than that.
- At least
- my lists
- look nice
February 08, 02009
Lots of messing around with Python.
- Made a goofy webpage.
But nevermind clicking that if you're using Chrome. That browser doesn't seem to like iframes, which is probably more good than bad.) - This prototype continues to interest me. PyGame is nice, but it's a bit of a big install requirement AND it's a bit too low-level for my liking.
- I've been messing with Boost.Python and making python modules in c++. In my tests so far the performance gains have been pretty huge.
- After those last two bullet points, it sure seems like I ought to turn Hadean into a python module to use instead of PyGame.

Went ahead and made the wiki BE the main site.
Still ought to make a real "games" section.
February 3, 02009
Played around with html/css/photoshop for a long time, thinking about redoing the main page. After messing with it all night, I think I still like what this wiki part looks like better than anything I came up with. But I guess it might be quite a bit of work to convert. I'd want to
- make sure images still work
- put games pages into wiki format
- remove the links and search thing and lame title at the top.
- move all the mediawiki stuff up a directory (maybe only index.php has to move?)

Hey, finally updated again!
It's 2am so I better not write too much, but I am fairly excited about how a prototype is turning out. The way 2am snuck up on me while I was playing with it probably indicates something good.
Here's a screenshot that won't actually help explain anything:
